In just under a mile above Pondtail Bridge, the canal reaches Reading Road Bridge in Fleet.

The original brick arch bridge, built c1792 was replaced in 1892. That, in turn, was replaced in 1953 with this low-level one which has the dubious (and unwanted) distinction of being the lowest bridge on the canal.

As has happened when other bridges were replaced prior to the canal's restoration, this bridge was rebuilt with the road much flatter and this has resulted in headroom which is very restricted.   After the canal was restored, this lack of foresight can cause severe difficulty for some boats.

Under the low-level modern structure can be seen remnants of the foundations of the earlier brick bridge.

Beyond the bridge there is a mooring space and picnic area. Then the canal proceeds along the backs of gardens towards Coxheath Bridge, just under one mile away.
