This bridge, nearly a mile upstream from Reading Road Bridge, is yet another example of the 20th-century flat-decked design which replaced, around 1970, the earlier brick-arched bridge.
The previous Coxheath Bridge (built 1896) was the second at this location, replacing the original 18th century brick-arch bridge.
Actually what is seen first as one approaches along the canal, is the separate footpath bridge built close alongside.
On the other side, looking back from the towpath, the view is somewhat marred by an unsightly rusty iron service pipe.
