  approaching Colt Hill Bridge (15K)

Colt Hill Bridge is only 350 yards from the bridge carrying the Odiham Bypass.

Odiham Wharf is just below the bridge and provides a convenient place to moor. Nearby there is a picnic area and parking space for cars.

Opposite is Galleon Marine from which boats and cruisers may be hired.

The canal Society's trip boat also sails from Odiham Wharf at appointed times.

  Water Witch pub (11K)

The 'Water Witch' public house lies just over the bridge. This used to be known as New Inn, serving Crowley Ales from Alton.

Colt Hill Bridge, built c1790 is another of the red-brick single-arch type so typical of this canal. The parapets were rebuilt and the surfacing over the bridge was relaid in 1977. In the mid-1920s the bridge had been strengthened with a mass concrete saddle.

  initials on brick face (19K)

A curiosity of this bridge is that it has the initials "10 WP" picked out in dark bricks on the east (downstream) face but the meaning of this is unknown. "10" is on the left of the bridge, while "WP" is on the right.

The bridge used to carry a minor road (B3016) which, until the bypass was built in 1981, led to Winchfield. Now the road over the bridge terminates in the car park for visitors to the wharf area.

  ancient barn (18K)

Just above the bridge is an ancient barn, built about 1812 for use as a warehouse, stable and cart shed for the canal. It is unusual in that courses of bricks follow the contour of the land, instead of being level.

From the bridge the canal is straight for just over half a mile until Lodge Copse Bridge is reached.
