SSSI and PDOs explained
A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is a site designated by English Nature (EN) to protect features of our countryside and wildlife habitats which are considered to be worthy of conservation, while a PDO is a Potentially Damaging Operation which might endanger an SSSI.
